It's here — Vogue's annual "Shape" issue, and the cover Rihanna Tweeted about back in January. First reaction? Annie Leibovitz clearly mixed up her mood boards, because this looks like an outtake from her Disney campaign — Riri is looking very Ariel the Little Mermaid. Only in skintight Chanel, natch.

The rest of the spread is pretty, if very boring. It's nice that they didn't 'shop out her tattoos, I guess. In fact, compared with most of Leibovitz's work, this is a very light-handed use of post-production image manipulation overall.

It is perhaps moderately confusing, the way her hair oscillates between flame-red and Ariel-beachy in some shots, and short and dark red in others.

DISCUSSION
Rihanna is a beautiful woman. But I just can't get behind that hair - the color is like that of a clown wig. I can't think of any woman who would make it work. I do rather like the purple wig, so perhaps she should switch to that.
