This morning on Today, while discussing the controversy over Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer's mandate that employees are no longer allowed to work from home over a glass of red wine, Kathie Lee broke into a speech about feminism and choice. Wherever you stand on Mayer's decision, you have to admit that Kathie Lee's understanding and definition of feminism is was pretty spot on, particularly coming from hokey morning television and a star who's always buzzed. Cheers, KLG!
Not sure how this is a feminist "choice," because Mayer's move basically says that working mothers don't have the choice to work and raise their kids without either hiring a nanny or putting them in daycare, a choice that many mothers (particularly single ones) can't necessarily afford.
Seems fairly anti-feminist to me.
Besides, let's be real — it's 2013. Why the fuck aren't most of us telecommuting by now?
