Vicki Van Meter, the lil' pilot who flew a plane from Augusta, Maine to San Diego in 1993 at the age of 11, has committed suicide. In 1994, Van Meter made headlines again by flying across the Atlantic from Augusta to Glasgow, Scotland. She shot herself in the head after a years-long struggle with depression. Her brother, Daniel, told the AP that Vicki had recently gone off her meds. "She was unhappy, but it was hard for her to open up about that," Daniel said. "We all thought that she was coping." [AP]
