Just a few days after turning himself in, Harvey Weinstein has been indicted by a grand jury on sex act and rape charges, bringing him closer to “accountability,” according to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.

Weinstein, who decided earlier today not to testify in front of a grand jury, made that decision because his lawyers said that there “wasn’t enough time to prepare” for his testimony, seeing as he only learned the names of the accusers and the charges after he surrendered to the police on Friday.

“Our office will try this case not in the press, but in the courtroom where it belongs,” Vance Jr said after the indictment. “The defendant’s recent assault on the integrity of the survivors and the legal process is predictable. We are confident that when the jury hears the evidence, it will reject these attacks out of hand.”

On Sunday, Weinstein was released on $1 million bail. He is now wearing an ankle bracelet. If found guilty, he faces up to 25 years in jail.
