The Washington Post has a frustrating but also delightful anecdote tucked into a report about Donald Trump’s Wednesday night dinner with Sen. Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, in which Pelosi realized she was surrounded by neanderthal dickwads who don’t listen when women talk.

Pelosi, meeting with Trump to gain clarity over his very confusing edits on DACA—which he is vaguely attempting to backpedal on after rescinding it earlier this month—was fed up that the ten men talking over her at the table. From the Post:

At one point, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross asked, “What exactly does the president get out of this deal?” As Pelosi, the only woman at the table of 11, tried to make her point — that the president gets the cooperation of the Democrats, which he will likely need on a host of issues — the men in the room began talking over her and one another.

“Do the women get to talk around here?” Pelosi interjected, according to two people familiar with the exchange.

There was, at last, silence, and she was not interrupted again.

To be honest, this administration is so sexist that I’m frankly sort of surprised that line worked at all.

You know people(reasonable people) seem to understand that don’t necessarily have to say you don’t like x racial group, it’s dependent on what you *do*. So similarly you don’t have to say you don’t like women to be sexist, it’s what you do.

I’m not sure if it’s been just reported more but it seems like with the rise of the alt right sexism has been more overt as well.
