The news this morning felt like a punch to the face. Soundgarden and Temple of the Dog were mainstays in my personal music library in high school and college. I even willingly paid for (and enjoyed) some of his solo work. His voice was mesmerizing and his lyrics put into words all of the depression-fueled emotions I’ve learned to live with and manage for the past twenty years. My heart hurts. But now thinking it was a suicide, my heart is stuck in my throat. So many thoughts and emotions swirling around in my head. It may seem silly to mourn a man I have never met, but this one really stings.
