Trump Says He's Pro-Life Now Because He Never Had to Think About it Before?

Donald Trump declared at Tuesday’s GOP Town Hall that he’s pro-life specifically because he never had to think about it before as a businessman. I guess this means that only politicians artificially tinted in a shade of “Cheeto” are deemed worthy enough to think or speak about abortion?

The idea of Trump’s “evolving” viewpoint seems pretty sudden, considering his one last saving grace for liberals was that he’s had a pretty steady record of being pro-choice for the past couple of decades. Then again, despite his recent “JK LOL” move regarding his streak of general misogyny as being shits and gigs, are you really surprised?

This is the point where I should just roll out the tweets debating this declaration.

But as BuzzFeed’s Andrew Kaczynski pointed out, maybe this “evolution” as your run-of-the-mill “businessman” wasn’t as straightforward as we thought.

Let’s just go with what Stephanie Cegielski, an ex-Trump adviser and definite defector said in a personal statement posted on XOJane: “The hard truth is [that] Trump only cares about Trump.”

I’m most intrigued by that XOJane letter. From what I gather, this person worked as a strategist for Trump because she didn’t expect him to win and thought of him as a “protest candidate” who would presumably steer the Republican party in an even more racist direction. And then he becomes the presumptive nominee and she is like, “Newsflash, everybody, Trump is a dangerously unqualified narcissist with no concrete policy positions, and I knew that the whole time I was working on his campaign, but now I’ve suddenly decided these qualities are unbefitting of a president.”

PS: Let’s all stop using “silent majority” (a phrase that appears about 4893 times in that XOJane post) to refer to white racist Trump-supporters. They are very noisy. From now on, the “silent majority” refers to those of us who don’t see what the big deal is with pepper. We know it’s not even in the same league as salt, but we’re afraid to admit it, lest we be considered boring.
