What's with the big girl pity party? "Persecution of anyone above a size 0"? Ladies, if you think TMZ, Us Weekly & other tabloid sources reflect society's views, step away from your computers and rejoin society. The only place I've been to in the U.S. with "fat persecution" is Los Angeles. And it wasn't even all or most of the city.

I don't like to psychoanalyze things generally, but here's my impression of Star: lonely big girl damn near doubles in weight, a sign that something isn't right upstairs. Such things are tied to depression. She compensates for whatever by being incredibly showy. This becomes out of control after she gets gastric bypass, starts losing weight and suddenly, she gets to be a bride. She wants all eyes to be on her. Her day. Her everything. This is especially important since she's probably not felt particularly beautiful for a while. Tacky wedding follows. She continues to lose weight, has chest and other plastic surgery.

I dropped about 80 lbs all by myself. Sometimes I'm startled by reflection. It takes getting used to. It's been nearly two years and in many ways, my body seems so foreign. I spend an absurd amount of time trying on clothes and if it weren't for my upbringing, I'd probably be outside in the winter with some hot pants and a turtle neck on. She showed off publicly and people didn't care for that, but most people have never dropped that kind of weight. I've never dropped that kind of weight but I can on;y imagine.

I've seen her I've seen her on Court TV and it's a totally different person than I saw years ago when I watched an episode of the View. She's finally at home in her own skin and I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt and hoping this is the real her.

I'm sure many of you would be pissed if your ex-boss aired your private business .

I watched the interview and I thought it was fascinating. Also, I don't think Barbara tried to paint herself in an overly positive or negative light, and I dont think she was trying to get props for having an affair. I think for someone who has done so much in their life, and had so many experiences, a memoir late in life makes perfect sense. It's easy to look at The View-era Barbara and think that her memoir is irrelevant, but I think people forget just how much she has done, how many world leaders she has interviewed, and how relevent she at least used to be. And if you don't care about her life, then don't read the g.d. book and stop hating.

Babs is being more than polite in this interview. Star was hated for a long time before the "surgery", believe me I interned there in 1999. Wow I am dating myself but still. I will never forget the orders for bacon at her door and the unruly demands that woman would have (STAR). Babs was always very very old school hollywood which in some way I loved. Breakfast was a black coffee and a peeled hard boiled egg. If it wasn't peeled it wasn't worth eating. She also had to be lead around the building at all times and DENIED that she ever had work done even then which is funny b/c I mean clearly, hi, she totally did. The only women I loved from that experience were Joy, Meredith and Tori Amos who I got to meet and had a great conversation with in the guest bathrooms. good times. faye dunaway, not so much.

What I find most hilarious about the Star Jones thing is the rampant incredulousness at the "portion control and pilates" argument. I mean, no one believed it, but that is exactly what anti-fat haters like to say. "If you just ate less and exercise more, you'd lose weight!!"

Then a very fat woman loses a ton of weight and claims that she just ate less and exercised more, and not a soul on Earth believes her. It cracks me up, we so can't win. :-)

Loved the moment with the shoes, and I am so buying this book. I love it when people actually tell the truth.

Gotta say this is the first time in a meantime I have really liked both of these women. I forget how endearing O is because I only ever see clips of her show when her audience is going nuts over "my favorite things" or she is kissing Tom Cruise's ass. I need to find a way to not go to work so I can waste my life watching daytime tv instead. I think I should have a discussion with my boyfriend about this.
