Did anyone here remember New Moon? I started reading it when I was 13, although that was the cutoff age (for girls aged 8 to 13). It was a quarterly magazine that had stories of young girls doing inspiring and good things in the world. Like girls who wanted to be astronauts or archaeologists, or the life of a Saudi girl who went to private school and introduced Ramadan to my knowledge.

I don't know if any of you continued to read that thread, but it only got more amusing. I didn't really have much sex as a teenager, so maybe I missed out on all the crazy hormones that render you unable to go TWO WEEKS without cheating on your boyfriend. But I especially like the post wherein the original author thanks the readers who are understanding of her "condition" and tells the others that they just don't understand the hardships she's endured. I do not remember at all how I learned about sex, but suffice it to say that I didn't learn it from my Catholic school.

Maybe I'm a prude but when I think of sex-ed reform, I don't think I'd like my teacher talking about anything BUT avoiding getting knocked up/STIs and preventing/avoiding sexual assault. You're a doctor/teacher; let the kids figure out what they want to do themselves (unless they do something with consequences they don't ancticipate, like donkey-punching or choking or BJ's without condoms...).

Enh. Remember that scene in the 40 Year-Old Virgin where Steve Carrell and (future) step daughter go to get birth control and Nancy Walls' character (a counselor) talked about "outercourse?" Masturbation, mutual masturbation, etc. etc...

Maybe in classes separated by gender (and one with a teacher who was the same sex as the students) it wouldn't seem so uncomfortable.
