I think the woman genuinely appreciates her staff; I think you don't want to get on her bad side during her busy time.

@brendastarlet: She produces the some of the most successful fashion shows to build up new houses into some of the biggest clients in the business. If you really were a prospective client, you would probably seriously consider her. She didn't get to be a pseudo-tyrant by doing a mediocre job, you know. The woman knows what she's doing.

A lot of you clearly haven't seen the whole episode -- believe me, there is another side to Kelly Cutrone and she can clearly be a sweet and reasonable person. This little video thing culls together her bitchiest moments from the whole thing. Seriously, watching her behind the scenes at Fashion Week, she's not only appreciative of her staff, but she gives them all hugs, tells them all they're the best, and her assisstant gets singled out for not just praise but a surprise birthday party set up and thrown by Kelly.

I've been waiting all morning for this: KELLY WAS IN MY DREAMS LAST NIGHT. I went to bed about an hour after watching The Hills and she totally followed me around all night telling me what to do and how to dress and telling me that I looked like crap, and whatever (it was like a long version of the "all black, no boobs, no piercings, etc." speech she gave on the Hills). I don't remember being upset -- I think in the dream I laughed at her most of the time -- but this morning I definitly put on blush and lipstick before going to work. HA!

I virtually never expect them to do these for me, though I expect them to be pretty good at contributing to the business in some form. In this case, that could be as easy as getting labels printed up at Kinko's (was this really something that the big boss had to step in to get done?).

I pulled more strings for that bitch using the name of my previous employer than she deserved. But, I'm not bitter. I've moved on. Just, like, NO one ever take a job in that industry. EVAR. Trust.

But, for real? Kelly is kind of a blessing, because at least she's honest. No beating around the bush. No passive aggression. She tells you what's up. You're either down or your not, and that can go a LOOOONG way. And, she's pretty funny.

My main criticism out there, however, for those who are owning/operating PR firms is HIRE MORE THAN ONE OFFICE MANAGER! Maybe hire a couple temps or high school grads to do nothing but keep the office tidy, stocked, and operating smoothly. It would go a long way. You'd get so much more out of your employees that it'd be completely worth the expense, AND you'd probably get more sleep and time for yourself (because most of YOU do work obsessively and tirelessly). "Boutique" firms (eyes roll; I lost 5 pounds), I'm talking about you too! I know this is what you bitches usually use your interns for, which is completely insulting to them and still a waste of (hopefully) decently educated (trust-fund having) work, but get someone who isn't ambitious and who is wiling to work for a lower wage (but a legal one, and for no more than 40 hours, for fuck's sake).

That's not to comment on how much work designers put into their clothing (I know it's more than we could ever imagine), but Fashoin Week and the shows that go on there, for everyone including the designers, is a see-and-be-seen event. It's all about where you're sitting, who's seeing who, who's not seeing who, etc. Kelly Cutrone seems to not just understand that abrasive pettiness, but to actually personify it.... which makes me love her. I would totally try to be her PA. I think I could survive. I don't know if I could excel.

I first came across Kelly Cutrone a few years ago on a Style Network special on Fashion Week. She's a ballbuster, but not in the same way that woman from that Fashionista Diaries is--she's very focused on her clients, making sure she's doing everything she can to make sure they're getting press coverage, etc. Impressive, but I'd probably want to kill myself if she was my boss.
