The supply ended up lasting me over a year. Honestly, just knowing I had the pills in my possession and could reach for them if necessary was very helpful.

One thing I didn't like (aside from during a middle-of-the-night bout of insomnia) was that Xanax made me very sleepy. I would sometimes take it with a shot of espresso (which you are NOT supposed to do) to stay awake in class. It wasn't habit-forming for me, though I know at least one person who found it addictive. You also should not drink while on it, which benefited me because I needed to cut down on my drinking, which was part of the cause of my anxiety. However, if you do drink, it will take the edge off your hangover the next day.

(Not trying to hijack the thread; I thought some others might find this useful as well.)
