I also wear an spf 30 every day no matter the season/weather. I guess I'm also lucky I was never a sun worshipper in those pre-sunscreen days.

Acne and rosacea do run in my family--two of my siblings did the Accutane treatment, too.

The immune system is attacking the bacteria and such on your skin much more aggressively then it really needs. That's why really mild antibiotics are the perfect quick-cure for acne (though it's not recommended for long-term use since you get immune to the effects of antibiotics). Since most people shouldn't take antibiotics that often, dermatologists recommend things to minimize bacteria and shit on your face.

People have trouble with their skin for *alot* of reasons, I'm sure, but my anecdotal experience says most of the variation is genetic. That's probably also why different treatments work on different people. (I used to have horrible skin, btw... and my mom was an adolescent medicine doc so I went through all the drugs, antibiotics, and finally acutane. That stuff is friggin' brilliant). N=1=awesome science.

also - i went to a derm before i got married and homegirl put me on an antibiotic and some creams (i have mild to moderate acne)
nothing worked. the antiobiotic made me nauseated, depleted my sex drive and stole my appetite. i switched to yaz and had amazing results. although i would still drink goat's blood if it meant porcelain skin

The only bacteria you need to kill is that Gingivitis shit in yo mouf. If you have acne, see a dermatologist who can tell you what to do. A lot of acne is genetic/hormonal, and it doesn't have shit to do with bacteria. Most of the time.
But, if you need to kill bacteria, the alcohol in the toner you should only be buying twice a year or less will take care of that for ya's.

Staph aureus is a bacteria, and P. acnes is the bacteria that causes acne so I can't imagine why it wouldn't evolve as well. And you are correct - bacteria is hard to target since it's under the skin, and it's pretty hard to target a single pore and accurately inject an antbacterial agent.

The reasons why people in modern times have shitty skin:
1) too much sugar in diets
2) too many preservatives
3) harsh chemical exposure
4) poor diets lacking in essential nutrients
5) exposure to hormones and other growth factors in our foods

purel is the devil. Mark my words, people.
