If your hairdresser wont let you put it in her hair, he/she sucks and you need to find a better one. Its the only crazy colored shit I will use on my clients, because everything made professionally (like the Paul Mitchell colors) sucks.

The fine print says: don't get it in your eyes; may cause blindness. I thought, do I want to put something on my scalp every three weeks that has the potential to make me go blind? It's not like the scalp is THAT far away from the eyes. Then I started thinking about cancer and how much water it takes to wash the dye out each time and all that stuff going down the drain into the water supply. Plus the expense and time. I'm more concerned with the fact that I am slowly destroying my back and the tendons/joints in my hands, which is something that eventually affects almost every single person in the industry to a pretty serious degree.

Also, coloring your hair and/or having it colored by a stylist every six weeks isn't even closely comparable to standing around and inhaling it 5 days a week for several times a day.

for my hair i mixed blue velvet with purple haze. not even mixed in a jar beforehand or anything i would just do a little bit of one then a bit of the other and then just mix it all over my head once it was on there.

they also have the effects brand or whatever, which i've also used. i am currently sporting hi-octane orange which is not actually orange but a super bright red with orange undertones because i didnt want my hair to come out too maroonish.

You can buy the dye there too if you can't find it locally. I'm not really sure where to suggest looking locally because Hot Topic recently stopped stocking it, and the only place I've been able to find it in Pittsburgh (though I haven't put much effort into it) is a punk/head/miscellaneous shop, so maybe check out places like that. I know that Sally's doesn't carry it. Good luck!

Manic Panic is generally awful and only lasts a week, so go for Special Effects. It might be harder to find, but that shit is amazingly good and lasts, especially the Atomic Pink shade, which is basically permanent. When you apply it, wrap it in saran wrap and blow dry it for a bit and leave it on as long as possible.

It will fade, but it should last a fairly decent amount of time, definitely more than a week. Also, it's totally going to look like you've murdered someone when you wash it out and probably for a few days after. Bleeding into surrounding hair shouldn't be too much of a problem. If anything, it might give then non-bleached streak a bit of a red cast, but probably nothing significantly different than now.

this is what i have used to great success. my shit was like flourescent, which I love, at first, and then mellowed to a gorgeous copper/auburn. the only thing is it does NOT COME OUT. it is so permanent, it is a stain. i had to get a haircut and go dark to cover it.

the important thing is the timing and that you use body art quality henna, not the bullshit they sell in the health food store. the website i posted has mad resources, a million different mixes and tons of photographs. i also like it bc it is kind of fun and craftsy and witchy to cook up a big brew of it, add in teas you like and lemon, essential oils, whatever strikes your fancy. have fun and feel cancer free.
