@southernbitch: I don't know about that. I'm local too and everyone I know is very into the project -- including a couple of ninth ward residents. The press has largely been positive, too. I know people get all freaked about protecting the old style of houses here (and I love our old houses, believe me) but I think NO could use a shot in the arm, architecturally speaking. To do this with an affordably housing program rather than some high end condos or even a museum or other cultural institution is genius as far as I'm concerned. (not calling Brad Pitt a genius, just for the record. Dude's got a good team, is all.)
