most pregnancies don't make it past the first few weeks, especially if the body picks up on obvious errors, like a split or fused embryo. that's why these cases are rare. in the US they are probably aborted most of the time. the twins i mentioned above -- their parents were anti-abortion, so they kept the pregnancy, but it was found and the option was offered.
