@winniecooper: It's never too late. I'm 40 years old and 170 pounds (or so my scale tells me) and I didn't even start ballet until I was 35. And thanks to a fabulous teacher, I'm working on pointe now - carefully, but I'm still doing it. Why should ballet be reserved only for the young and skinny?

The women who were "larger" than the normally accepted size were far more comfortable in their space than the slimmer women. Seems they just had a better concept of how they occupy their world. Hard to explain, and I am in no way saying anything bad about thin women here. Just an observation.
