Once at a damn FUNERAL, and he was a friend of my husband's, and he was mortified when I said no, that wasn't a baby, it was beer. The second time was a couple of months later at my 20 year HS reunion. This jackass guy from my class put his hand on my stomach and told me congratulations. I was standing there with a drink in my damn hand. Idiot. I tell you, it hurt my feelings so bad I didn't even GO to the second night of my reunion. I still (3 years later)sometimes wonder whether that flowy top (it was outdoors in July in Alabama) was such a great idea.

Longer if it's your second pregnancy. Your organs are re-arranged, your ribcage is loosened, your skin is stretched and you are generally enlarged. Breastfeeding can help, yes, but not for everybody.

These celebrities who do it in a month must hand the baby over at birth and get straight on the treadmill - or else get a lipo chaser with their caesar. Some people are genetically blessed and can recover quickly, and others (putting my hand up) never fully recover.

The Lisa Marie thing bugs me though, because noone "forced" her to admit she was pregnant. And! She said she's due "sometime in fall", which would mean that the weight she's at is pretty much her weight. So I can't feel bad for her acting like she's normally emaciated except that being 2 months pregnant has made her gain 50 pounds. It doesn't work like that. It's no longer sufficient to lose the baby weight post-haste, now apparently you're not supposed to gain baby weight at all. The fetus weighed about half of what it should have and her doctors had to induce labour really early in order to treat fetal malnutrition. If the baby would do better in intensive care than in your womb, something is seriously wrong. then a few days later i overheard someone telling some friends she was 5 or 6 months pregnant and their first reaction was to congratulate her on not looking pregnant. Would they congratulate her if she was chainsmoking and knocking back Jack Daniels? By not gaining weight she could be seriously endangering the fetus. I'm not saying a pregnant woman should just be a baby incubator but if you decide to procreate you could make an effort to do it right. But i seem to be in the minority on this issue. Of course the most important thing in any woman's life is to be thin and sexually attractive (even if she's already pregnant and would seem to have achieved the ostensible goal of said attractiveness, rendering said attractiveness superfluous and pointless). Similar to north american sexualization of breast-feeding - nothing can supercede women's role as sex object. A tangential story - A good friend of mine who always had a pooch had to have reconstructive breast surgery after a double masectomy. Rather than giving her implants, the surgeon told her to gain weight, then used her belly fat, twisting up tissue from the left side of her abdomen to her right breast and vise versa, if that makes sense. Her abdominal muscles will never be as strong, but she has the size of breasts she always wanted, and got a lot of tummy fat taken out in the process. Also, she has no belly button or nipples anymore, but she got them tattooed on.

I'm not going to stop wearing empire waist tops, though. The spare tire looks A LOT less attractive when it's encased in tight fabric.

She's said in interviews that she was working out 3 hours a day to get her figure back, and she was extremely skinny to begin with and very young. But when one of my best friends had a baby last year, she told herself, "If Kate Hudson can lose the weight in 2 weeks [or whatever], then so can I" and then she got pretty depressed when it didn't end up that way. I think it made her post-pregnant body image issues a whole lot worse to be trying to achieve this ridiculous standard.

I gained about 75 lbs with my first baby and was back to regular size in about three months because it was all weird water and stuff (I,m not saying I was toned, but I was back to pre-pregnancy weight/size). But the last 10 of the 30 I gained with the second tot took me almost five years to get rid of. Ok, so I'm kind of lazy and I don't have a career that depends on me looking a certain way. I didn't do anything different either time (except age a few years) -- didn't eat more, exercise less -- so you just can't always tell. What bothered me about the Lisa Marie thing was her reaction. As if saying someone is gaining weight was so terrible. I'm not saying it wouldn't have bothered me -- I can be vain -- and I know the part about comparisons to her dad's weight were mean. But I almost wished she had gone the "I'm not going to even dignify this drivel with a comment" route. Because it's really none of our business -- our bodies, our choices: to get pregnant, terminate pregnancies, carry them to term, get fat, stay thin, etc.

With absolutely no discernible stomach fat at all, but hey! Apparently for a single moment the angle made it look like she might have some. (Although never to my eyes.)

And I would NEVER comment to someone about being pregnant based on looks, unless it was exceedingly obvious, and even then, I'm not sure if I would risk it. It's just tacky, y'all.

Seeing her look more like my size, made me realize then I could maybe look like her one day..it wasnt like this impossible goal.

I dont place a lot of emphasis on the resources one has at their disposal...just cos a celebrity has a trainer and a gourment diet meal delivery service , doesnt neccesarily mean they will lose weight any easier than the normal person- its all about willpower and actually doing the work. When I put my mind to it (finally), I didnt have a problem losing weight.
