Yeah, his more accessible works have become so omnipresent as to be a cliche (anyone remember that Buffy ep where the dorm-marauding vampires were keeping a running total of The Kiss versus Monet's Water Lilies posters?) but that doesn't mean he's all crap, you know?

He did some amazing work in several genres of painting, was a successful portraitist, did landscapes, designed murals and posters, made a tonne of really racy studio drawings. Hugely successful in his day, revered even now.
