I am the dumbass who has gotten into cars with people driving under the influence (booze, drugs). It is extremely stupid. Our car was rear-ended once by some people who were raging drunk (our driver had sobered up quite a bit) - no serious injuries but of course, the douches didn't pay for my medical exam.
It's a totally irresponsible and selfish thing to do because it often screws people who are acting responsibly.

Our generation often disappoints.
Like people who continue to have unprotected sex w/ multiple partners, then contract and spread STDs. No excuse in a time of AIDS.
Zero tolerance for that shit.

You drink, you drive, you make it home, and it reinforces the notion that you can handle it, that you are above it all. Really, the only true convincer is when someone gets into an accident or causes one, especially one with fatality. When you're standing before a judge in criminal court and they tell you that you're going to spend part of your life in jail, that tends to erase the invincibility.

So has asked me what excuses people use. So I ticked off a ton that I had personally heard "I've driven worse than this" "I'm not drunk, you're drunk" "I'm only driving 10 minutes" "I drive better when I'm drunk", etc. He was stunned... I think I'm numb to it...
