Fuck, sometimes it can be hard enough to just be seen by the doctor who's meant to be treating you! That said, there is no excuse for this sadist & I'm fully up for the "wolf creek" moment.
My mother had a referral from her male doc when we were young to do with lumps in her breasts- she decided to open it and read it- it was basically a short description of the problem followed by a gross description of her boob size (they run large in my family) She didn't do anything about it b/c she was so embarrassed. My teenage self was outraged & wanted to go do some castrating. The whole doctor thing seems to be a "look after our own" situation. ARGHHH!

The student midwives who were there reported him for inappropriate behaviour. Nothing got done cos it was their word against his. He later (not later that day) pushed his wife out of their bedroom window, killing her, then went into the hospital to fake medical records to set up his alibi. I only know about this cos he worked in the hospital where I did my training, and I know the student midwives who reported him, and not because of any public or media outcry. Cos there was no public or media outcry. Because Doctors will cover each others backs to prevent bringing the rest of the profession into disrepute.

My female md quit practicing basically, so I started taking polls on drs in the area, and it turns out that my friends with male doctors are much happier than the ones with fems because the fem's don't give the appropriate respect to the female reproductive system. As in "Its not that bad, I have that/have done that/etc. too, so shut yer yap already." That shit doesn't make you feel better.

Male doctors seem to be more sympathetic in this non-scientific survey. my theory: despite years of medical training, they still think the female reproductive system is magic, and they bow down at that alter. Why the hell else would they want to be gynes?

So because of all that hodge podge, and because I wanted the doctor who the doctors went to, I have switched to a man. Although some feminist part of me (not in the vadge region, that part is happy with the dude) is cringing at ALL of this.
