Melon Collie was when they started to lose me...some great songs but a lot of filler, IMO. Then after that I just quit paying attention and became a big music snob, uncoincidentally. I had the biggest stupidest dorkcrush ever on Billy Corgan, and then he went and turned into this crazy bald freak who never changed his shirt. Le sigh.

Also, I can relate to you on not seeing them. I grew up in PR and bands never ever ever went on tour there so I never saw anyone. One of the reasons why I went to college in the States was so I could see bands live (no joke). My first two years over here I got to see pretty much everyone I loved when I was in high school (no doubt, garbage, foo fighters) so it was totally magical.

I still listen to it all the time, especially the blue disc (twilight to starlight!), but only when my boyfriend's not around because all the screamy songs offend his folk-music-loving sensibilities.

They came to Richmond, VA (closest city to where I lived) when I was 13, but I couldn't get tickets. I was SO SAD, but got a tour shirt anyway. It was the one with the cute vampire on the front, it said "The world is a vampire..."

I have Adore and Machina (meh), and even bought the Zwan record. I reviewed Billy's solo record for my college paper, and I really wanted it to be good but it was pretty bad. I didn't bother with Zeitgeist but just listened to the first 3 Pumpkins albums, like, 50 times on repeat.

You guys, this has ACTUALLY made me nostalgic for 8th grade. That's hard to do, y'all. I just don't love things anymore like I did then.

I went to a Christmastime rock festival (heh, called the Fez-tival--any of you Philly girls remember Y100?) and sat through Seether, All-American Rejects and freaking Good Charlotte just to watch Coldplay and Zwan (and of course Coldplay was dead last...). Watching Billy and Jimmy (the drummer) rock out for 25 minutes was awesome--they showed those punks who the real musicians were. Also, since GC played the second-to-last set, there was this giant exodus of suburban emo kids before Coldplay came on, and I kept muttering (albeit loudly) "Thanks for coming out, Avril."
