@KimberleeJ: You really couldn't have said it better. I was watching this CNN piece about two years ago which was focused on the "right to choose" and all of these young women who are anti-choice. Their explanations of why they leaned toward the pro-life movement was because they were all too smart to get themselves in a situation where they would need one. And the reporter began asking them how their feelings may differ on the issue if they were raped, had a dangerous pregnancy, etc. and they really couldn't come up with an answer. These weren't super Born Agains, these were college educated women who wanted Roe vs. Wade to be reversed because "they thought women were smart enough" nowadays. And they didn't understand that any vote against choice is actually a vote against women, whichever way you look.

I never thought I'd see the day where the most feminist thing you could do is vote for a dude.

I assume I'm a little bit older than most of the ladies who post here, and I actually remember some of the struggle, the actual struggle. As in, I fortunately didn't have to fight for Roe V Wade, but I remember what it's like to have not so much recourse if your boss hits on you, and when we kinda considered feminism more than having the power to talk about who you'd like to take home for the night.

I don't agree with everything the NOW ladies have to say, but I do agree with one sentiment, that many many young ladies today, who consider themselves feminists, run screaming from the first thing that makes them seem unsexy. And that's what these NOW ladies are right about - women will sit on the sidelines in fear of an opinion making them look unpopular.

My generation is guilty of it, but it carries on - women do not realize HOW CLOSE we are to losing our rights. Hillary and these NOW chicks may be aggressively old school, but they are also the same ladies who won you your rights to bitch about them. You are one Justice away from losing your right to control your bodies, and these are the ladies who have kept that shit in check for 30+ years. You may hate them, but you owe them. I owe them.

I have been following politics my whole life, and I have never seen such rampant sexism, and the thing that dismays me is that so much of it is from women.

This is one of the most ridiculous and insulting press releases I've ever read. I say that as a feminist who's as yet undecided about the upcoming primary, and as someone who's a former board member of NOW-NYC (several years ago, and I haven't been a member since then).

I didn't see anything in this press release about WHY anyone should support Hillary, aside that she's a good role model for young girls, plus the strong implication that if you're not for Hillary, you're against women/feminism. As I said to someone tonight, people hate Hillary not because she's "a woman" but because she's Hillary Clinton. Those can be separated and the conflation of the two is insulting to everyone, including Hillary. Also, um...candidates aren't elected based on what they can do for one segment of the population, but the country as a whole.

Also, she spelled Britney's name wrong. I know that's just a tiny thing but, having had my own name spelled wrong numerous times, I notice these things. Just looked at it again and spelled Barack "Barak."

This is appalling. I didn't have any illusions that NOW was relevant to me, but I didn't expect such extreme ridiculousness.

I thought feminism was about empowering us to make the choices we wished to me make - to marry or not? To have children or not? To vote for who we wish to lead us?

I have a close friend, an Evangelical Christian, who has spent the last 8 years in a Bush stupor. She carried a pro-life water bottle with an aborted fetus on it. I have no idea how this happened, but she came out to me as a hardcore Obama supporter last week.

To me, that embodies the power and the promise of Barack Obama.

I could care less if he lacks a vagina. This is about uniting our country, to save it, for all of our minorities. Not pridefully advancing the cause of ONE minority.

The damage being inflicted upon feminism, not to mention the Democratic Party, by NOW and Gloria Steinem is out of hand. As much as it goes against my "feminist indoctrination" to call women "hysterical", NOW and Gloria Steinem could not try harder to embody "hysteria".

First of all, when your argument boils down to supporting a candidate because of their gender, you are no longer making a feminist argument. Again and again, we hear certain feminist/woman call Obama supporters (particularly other women) "traitors". For a great majority of these irate Hillary supporters, the heart of their case is not the candidates stand on issues, but their gender.

Also, all candidates are judged on likability, personality and their ability to inspire. For some reason, if you are drawn to or inspired by Obama it must be because you're a mysgonist or "can't or won't handle the prospect of a woman president". This is absurd. Perhaps this is true of a small percent of the population but to claim this of Obama supporters is hysteria. (Behavior exhibiting excessive or uncontrollable emotion, such as fear or panic.)

Most people who don't support Hillary, especially Democrats or liberals, is because of her policies, her stand on particular issues such as the war, or political methods. Personally, Hillary has lost my support over the year not because she is a woman, but because of her record. If she gets the nomanation I will support her. Until that is decided, it is Obama that motivates me and gives me hope for the republic.

Judging a candidate on their record, not their gender is feminism.

Supporting a woman, just because she is a woman is stupidity.
