I was dating a recovering heroin addict still in outpatient. Part of completing his program was to apply to school. His facility gave him a big pamphlet on what scholarships he could get just for being a junkie. It was there in black & white- men only.

Most of the scholarships are from private foundations started by male addicts. It chaps my ass, cuz I was so desperate that I was totally considering shooting up to pay for school.

Another thing: did you know that in a number of states (Louisiana, I know for sure)there are scholarships and tons of grants available to anyone who's completed a rehab program? Regardless of grades and standardized test scores. The catch: it's only available to dudes.
