Worth It: This Eyeliner Won't Budge

Much unlike many a magazine editor who recommends you buy all sorts of crap that they most likely got for free, your Jezebel staff doesn’t get jack shit (other than books, unsolicited). And that’s how it should be. But on our own time, in our personal lives, we still buy stuff. So this is Worth It, our daily recommendation of random things that we’ve actually spent our own money on. These are the things we buy regularly or really like, things we’d actually tell our friends about. And now we’re telling you.

There’s only one way to put this: Revlon’s Colorstay eyeliner pencil is the shit. Really. It may not glide on quite as easily as an expensive kohl pencil, but it’s fine, really — and when it’s on, it’s on. As in, the eyeliner is not going anywhere. This might be the first and only product I’ve ever used that truly lives up to its “long-lasting” claim. You can’t even smudge it without getting forceful about it. If you want a smoky eye or somesuch, use this as a base and then go over it with some shadow. By the end of the night, your shadow may have worn off, but this stuff will still be on your upper lids, right where you left it. I know, because I deliberately tested it one night just for kicks. Also, it features a delightful built-in sharpener, which is nice for when you’re traveling or whatnot.

I’ve been a CoverGirl loyalist for the past decade, but I made the switch after reading an interview with some makeup artist who specialized in bridal stuff. She said she always used it since the brides were usually facing excruciatingly long wedding days. Well, I have excruciatingly long days, too! Perfect! And no, I don’t know why I was reading tips from a wedding makeup lady. I can’t remember where I read it, but it wasn’t in a wedding magazine or anything I swearpleasejustleavemealonemom.
