In addition to being an awful ass, Driscoll's been throwing his weight around to avoid a plagiarism scandal.
This has been going around in evangelical circles for the past couple of weeks. Journalist and radio show host Janet Mefferd found that Driscoll had borrowed quite a bit of his thinking in his latest book from a guy named Peter Jones. She confronted Driscoll on her show, which was about eighteen different ways of wrong in evangelical culture (starting out with, "you're a woman, he's a man," and "you should have taken it to him privately" and "he's a pastor, you're not," and so on).
Then it looks for all the world like Driscoll and his church basically lifted information about the book 2nd Peter for a church study guide (as also reported by Mefferd):
And then Mefferd's part time assistant producer, Ingrid Schlueter (who was apparently the showrunner and researcher for the plagiarism), was either forced to resign or was fired (who knows)?
Of course Driscoll hasn't answered to any of the plagiarism accusations and the fear is being put out there so others won't go after him.
