Woman Confronts Alleged Rapist on YouTube; The Result Is Jaw-Dropping
LatestUnder the name Jamie X, the victim posted a video of herself identifying the abuser as her former teacher, Andrea Cardosa, who allegedly began assaulting Jamie X when she was a 12-year-old student at Chemawa Middle School in Riverside, California. Jamie has come to terms with her abuse, but she can no longer obtain justice because the statute of limitations has expired. Meanwhile, Cardosa had risen to the rank of Vice-Principle at Alhambra High School; Jamie called the school to speak with the former teacher directly and recorded the whole thing.
In the jaw-dropping video, Jamie finally reaches Cardosa who eventually admits her abuse of Jamie, saying that she “regrets it every day” and still doesn’t know why it happened. Jamie explains to Cardosa that she’d ruined her life and shouldn’t be around other children because she is a predator.
“Do you realize that you brainwashed me and that you manipulated me and that what you did was wrong?” Jamie growls at Cardosa, who replies “yes” and calmly expresses regret on the other end of the line. The more emotional Jamie gets, the more Cardosa stumbles. Enfeebled by her former student’s accusations, Cardosa replies, quaking, “I just wanted to help you.”
Hours after Jamie uploaded their conversation and her account of the abuse she suffered at the hands of Cardosa — who probably didn’t know she was being recorded — the educator resigned from Alhambra. At press time, the eight-minute clip has more than 840,000 views. Cardosa has yet to make any public statement however Jamie’s lawyer David Ring says authorities are investigating whether there are any other victims and that another female may come forward.
On Monday, Jamie held a press conference in California to explain why she chose YouTube as her venue to speak out against her attacker as well as her motivation.
“The reason I wanted to do this was to expose who she really was and to protect other kids because she shouldn’t be around anyone’s kids,” she said in a press conference on Monday. “It took a lot for me to come forward but I kept thinking about my own kids and how I wouldn’t want anything to happen to them. And it made me sad when I found out that she was teaching at this school, she shouldn’t be here.”
