Woman Allegedly Poisoned Her Doppelgänger With Cheesecake in Order to Steal Her Identity

I believe the narrative merits and moral dubiousness of this story already speak for themselves, but I can go on.

Pix 11 reported on Wednesday that in August of 2016, according to prosecutors, 42-year-old Brooklyn resident Viktoria Nasyrova allegedly baked a cake for her 35-year-old double (it’s not clear from the reports how the two knew each other), and brought it to her home in Queens.

The cake contained phenazapam, a type of tranquilizer developed in the Soviet Union in the ’70s, and soon after the unidentified woman ate her cake, she felt very unlike herself and passed out. She was found the next day dressed in lingerie with pills scattered about her, a visual detectives believe was devised to make it look as if she’d overdosed. This theory is further supported by the victim’s discovery, upon returning home from the hospital, that her passport, employment authorization card, jewelry, and cash had all gone missing.

Detectives say that both women have the same dark hair, the same skin complexion, and both speak Russian. Which is not much to go on.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement on Wednesday, “This is a bizarre and twisted crime that could have resulted in the death of a Queens woman, whose only fault was the she shared similar features with the defendant. Offering a gift of cheesecake, the defendant is alleged to have laced the dessert with a Russian drug and presented it to the unsuspecting victim.”

Nasyrova was arrested on March 20, 2017 and faces a maximum of 25 years in prison if convicted. Nasyrova was also reportedly wanted for the alleged murder of a woman in Russia and for “preying on” various New York City men. She is said to have been enjoying a “carefree” life in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn.
