Will the New Teen Jesus Series Be the CW-esque Romp We're Praying for?

Latest

Fox has just announced that they will be developing Nazareth, an event series following the life of Jesus Christ between the age of 13 and 30. Please tell me this is the sexy Jesus teen drama we never knew we wanted?

It seems unlikely, considering that it’s being written by Gladiator scribe David Franzoni, who, despite a penchant for melodrama, probably won’t give into our desire for pure, unadulterated camp. But we can still dream, right?

Close your eyes and imagine it! Nazareth High! Jesus played by Avon Jogia from Twisted. Judas is a bad boy in the spirit of Luke Perry circa 90210. Mary Magdalene is the girl caught between them as she tries to decide between the right and wrong side of the tracks. They could even pull that ABC Family move where they cast the parents with actors in their early 30s (Rider Strong as Joseph and Lacey Chabert as Mary?) and give them sexy and intriguing plot lines of their own.

Here’s the vague description of what the series will actually be about, according to Deadline:

It follows the formative years of Jesus of Nazareth. There had been a lot of interest recently in Jesus’ so called “lost years,” a lesser known period in his life because there is very little written about him from the age of 13, following a pilgrimage to Jerusalem he took with his parents, to age 30, when he began his ministry and was baptized by John the Baptist.

Eh, I like my version better. CALL ME, HOLLYWOOD.
