Got a pint-sized geek in your life? Were you once a pint-sized geek? You ought to take a few minutes to watch actor Wil Wheaton reassure a kid who's not sure how to deal with being called a nerd like it's a bad thing.
"When you were a kid, were you called a nerd? And if so, how did you deal with it?" asked a little girl at Denver Comic Con, according to BuzzFeed. Oh child, clearly you are too young to have heard of something called Star Trek: The Next Generation and specifically the inexplicable character of Wesley Crusher. Wil Wheaton knows plenty about being called a nerd.
Which maybe explains his dead-on response to the question. Short version: Don't let it bother you, because when someone gives you a hard time for being a nerd, it says more about them than it does about you. "Don't let them make you feel bad because you love a thing," Wheaton told her.
The video is from back in June but started circulating on Facebook this weekend, leaving Wheaton pleasantly baffled:
Seriously, though, if all I'm remembered for is telling a little girl that it's OK to be a nerd, and to be compassionate, I'm ok with that.

Not to mention that one day a series you read obsessively in high school will become a hit HBO franchise, and you'll get to watch everyone you know lose their fucking shit when Ned Stark gets his head cut off. Who's crying now?! You are, because George R.R. Martin will kill everything you love. RED WEDDING.
