There's a good chance you don't even have 30 close friends, but when Joyce McDevitt of Wath, England married her husband David, she had 30 bridesmaids and two reserves (she wouldn't want to look unpopular if two had to drop out). McDevitt explains that her family is large and she refused to deny anyone the joy of paying for all the bridesmaid accoutrement (though mercifully, she let the pick their own dresses). Recently Ohio's Mansfield Reformatory hosted its fifth annual Glamour in the Slammer Bridal Show. About 500 people showed up to the most haunted former prison in the country, but if they're hoping to get married there they have a bit of a wait — the venue is already booked through the end of 2012. Operations Manager Susan Nirode explains the appeal, saying, "From the outside, it looks like a castle. On the inside, the Central Guardroom is just beautiful." (Presumably guests won't be roaming through the abandoned cell block, which is pictured above.) She adds, "It's just nice to see something that was once a dark spot in peoples' lives be turned into something bright. And we're not taking away from the history of the place." Here's a pro tip: If you told your boss you're destitute, don't invite him to the over-the-top wedding that you paid for with money stolen from his office. Kirsty Lane of Lancashire, Britain decided it was a good idea to invite her boss, Peter Sutton, to her wedding, even though she paid for her limo, jewelry, bridesmaids dresses, and matching Ugg boots (oh boy) with money from his business accounts. Sutton began to suspect that his part-time clerk was stealing from him when he attended her wedding at country estate, complete with a harpist, magicians, a saxophone player, and fireworks. Yesterday Lane pleaded guilty to stealing $273,000 from Sutton's audio-visual firm and nearly putting him out of business. He said of the event, "It was like she was rubbing our faces in it ... In Malaysia, Masran Abdul Rahman and his family are suing his former fiancée Norzuliyana Mat Hassan for leaving him just six hours before their wedding.
