This scene from a short '80s film (that once appeared on MTV!) highlights the frustrations of a young girl at the computer lab. She, apparently, is what some bully's Dad calls a "techno-dunce." Obviously this leads to the classroom teacher bringing the boy to the principals office; when she shuts the door behind her, and the kids launch into what's possibly the most ridiculous musical number ever portrayed in film. I'm not sure how the theatrics helped to teach the young lady how to get over her fear of computers — or even use them at all — but I suppose the collective bullying by a classroom of peers through songs is enough to get anything accomplished. Last night, Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, 90210 took a very ugly turn. When we found out that Russell Armstrong took his own life — and that Bravo would be airing almost everything that led up to that event — I was torn. Torn because these housewives had swiftly become my favorite and because it seemed indecent to air the fake events scripted for reality television for the entire world to see. Most of the season was Russell-free, but eventually he crept in, being creepy at a dinner party, making demands at his daughter's birthday party, and half-heartedly going through marriage counseling. But last night's episode was the worst yet — and I'm not sure I can look at these people the same way again. More »

Hey girl, your boyfriend stars in the latest video in the "Drunk History" series from Funny or Die! It's a slurry retelling of the story of Christmas, in which Gosling plays the lead. Your boyfriend joins Jim Carrey as Santa, and Eva Mendes — wait a second: they're starring in online parody videos together now? — as his ...wife. Well, I was going end this by saying, "Merry Christmas to me!" but now that Eva has positioned herself as Ryan Gosling's actual, real-life girlfriend, all I can muster up is a "Bah Humbug." Still, this video is worth watching to see Gosling in a Santa hat alone. More »

If you've been finding yourself at home during the daytime, there's a decent chance you've stumbled upon Anderson Cooper's daytime show. The daytime syndicated series has shown us a new side of Mr. AC 360 — a softer, less serious, almost youthful side. He got a spray tan with Snooki, admitted his greatest fear is being around bugs, and made horrified faces as he tried spinach and coffee for the very first time. But nothing makes him seem more child-like than his constant mentions of his mother. A frequent guest on Anderson, Gloria Vanderbilt somehow works her way into conversation whether or not she's actually there — as evidenced by the supercut above — leading us to believe that Anderson Cooper is media's most famous mama's boy. But considering who his mother is, we can't really blame him. More »

Happy Friday: Lifetime has just released the first trailer for Drew Peterson: Untouchable, the made-for-TV movie about the life and times of the allegedly wife-murdering, and definitely all-around horrific person — played by none other than Rob Lowe. Huh? It is creepy, it is campy, and it is almost shocking when Lowe is revealed in the dark looking so much like Peterson as he mutters the title of the film, "I'm untouchable, bitch." On last night's episode of Toddlers & Tiaras, we met Kelly, whose 23-month-old daughter Natalie was competing in some random pageant inside of a drab hotel room (seriously, the venues always look like sad sets from an Eastern Block film). Natalie screamed and cried while she was being dressed, screamed and cried while she was having her hair done, and generally seemed rather spoiled. But it was clear that bad behavior ran in the family: Kelly threw a tantrum when her child was crowned "Princess" in her division. "Princess means that you're a loser," Kelly declared. (Does Disney know about this?) This particular pageant had announced that they were awarding Princess titles in addition to Supreme titles — meaning that just because you're crowned Princess doesn't mean you won't be Ultimate Queen Grand Wizard Royal Nacho Supreme Burrito or whatever. However! Kelly wasn't listening when the announcement was made. Hence the drama queen scene. The lesson she is teaching her daughter is that if you don't get what you want, you should curse and scream and throw things, which is almost certainly the best possible way to raise a responsible, generous, caring citizen of Earth. Anyway! In the end, Natalie did indeed win Novice Chalupa Supreme Queen, and Kelly got the giant crown she wanted. More »

Janet Jackson is the new spokesperson for NutriSystem. Yawn. But as was telling her story to Good Morning America, she divulged us with stories of her formative years — and the many insecurities that developed within them. Janet says her body issues stemmed from childhood, where her brother Michael would poke fun at her "big butt" — "names of endearment," she clarified — and her first acting job on Good Times, which she began when she was only 10 years old. Jackson says that on her first season of the show, the good people in wardrobe felt her body was developing too soon and flattened her chest by binding it. Cohen plays the fictional North African dictator General Aladeen, who "risks his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed." Sounds like a riot. When Jimmy Kimmel put out a call for parents to give their kids something undesirable as an early Christmas present — and capture the kids' reactions on camera, of course — viewers obliged in droves. The end result, this compilation, is fantastically entertaining. Our personal favorite is the "gender norm" family, in which the two girls get "boy" things, and their brother reacts to his gift thusly: "I got a girl activity book with stickers — I'm not a girl! Our little buddy Marcel The Shell hit the "big-time" last night when he, along with creators Jenny Slate and Dean Fleischer-Camp, appeared in their very own segment on NBC's Rock Center With Brian Williams. BriWi traveled all the way to Brooklyn to film the interview in the couple's apartment, which also serves as Marcel's word in all of his videos. Williams got Jenny to talk about the swearing incident that ended her short tenure at Saturday Night Live — as only Brian Williams could — and how that bummer of a time in her life also served as the inspiration for Marcel. I am obsessed with this video my friend Kevin found and sent to me of SNL writers goofing around in their offices late last week around 4:30am. It stars Taran Killam, a second-year member of the show's cast, donned in a white fur cropped hoodie thing and getting down to Robyn's "Call Your Girlfriend." (Between Killam's dead-on impressions on the show, his funny portrayal of an evil glee club teach on last week's Community, and knowing that he has a child with funnylady Cobie Smulders from How I Met Your Mother, my love for this man keeps growing and growing.) RuPaul's Christmas Ball was shot for VH1 in 1993, but now that I've discovered it (thanks, Eliot!), I'm pretty sure it's more entertaining than any Christmas special, ever. Not only does it feature RuPaul herself, but other insanely fierce celebrities of the time: Elton John, Taylor Dane, Boy George, Laura Kightlinger, and ...Nirvana?! You'll also see LaToya Jackson wearing the same blonde-wig, red-dress getup that Ru is wearing, which obviously leads to a diva-off. On last night's edition of Kourtney And Kim Take New York, the marriage of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries continued to implode before our very eyes. And for yet another episode in what's sure to be a season filled with tense arguments between the newlyweds, I couldn't look away. This week's kerfuffle? Bearing children, and where to raise them. Under normal circumstances, you might think that it wouldn't really be this big of a deal to decide upon the town to settle down in post-nuptials. But when you're a Kardashian who splits time between cities but "lives and dies in LA" and a free agent in the NBA who would rather live in rural Minnesota than anywhere else, things get a little more complex. And there are cameras involved! It's clear in the clip above that Kris isn't willing to compromise and goes so far to say, "Baby by the time you have kids and they're in school and all that, no one will probably care about you, let's be honest." Something weird happened on the season finale of America's Next Top Model: All-Stars last night — and for once, we're not talking about something Tyra Banks, the always-smizing host of the show did or said. Instead, it was the random disqualification of Angelea Preston, the tall, somewhat-beloved underdog who scratched her way to the top. It was strange that she was suddenly suspended from the show's competition. Even stranger was the way the situation was addressed on the show: Barely at all. Ugh, awful: Michelina Lewandowska, 27, was tasered, had her feet taped together, and was buried alive by her 25-year-old fiancé Marcin Kasprzak. Michelina, now living the real-life version of Uma Thurman's hell in Kill Bill 2 heroically clawed her way through the box and soil using her engagement ring (how ironic!). The couple have now taken the terrible situation to court, where Michelina's lawyers maintains that Marcin buried her in the ground at the top of an isolated hill because he was "bored with her," while his team claims that Marcin "was only trying to scare her." Sounds like somebody needs to stop channeling George Bluth Senior and his lessons, because I think in burying his wife in the ground he confused "scary" and "deadly." More »

Now that country singer Mindy McCready and the son she reportedly kidnapped from his father's house have been found, McCready is telling her side of how things went down. She doesn't believe that taking her son Zander out of his home and crossing state lines was wrong, at all. McCready states, "I do not, to this moment, and will not ever think that me taking my own child that I carried for nine months that I gave birth to by myself would ever be breaking the law." McCready, who has a new boyfriend and is pregnant with twins, says her new life won't be complete without Zander in it. Well now! This month's edition of the New York Times Magazine features an online gallery called "Touch of Evil," a series of shorts that depict some of Hollywood's finest in villainous roles. The gallery includes videos with Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Jessica Chastain, George Clooney as a spastic Napoleon type, and our obvious personal favorite, Ryan Gosling, as some kind of painting-come-to-life that smokes a cigarette as he fades away into the shadows (whatever, it just works).
