Watch Lupita Nyong'o Gather a Gaggle of Friends and Braid Their Hair

Following up her cover for the magazine, Vogue has released a video of Lupita Nyong’o showing off her braiding skills on six of her best friends. Is there nothing this woman can’t do?

In the video, Nyong’o talks about how when she was a college student in the U.S., she went into New York City to get her hair braided, but was “morbidly disappointed” with how they did it. After that, when Nyong’o returned home to Kenya for the summer, she had an aunt who owns a hair salon teach her. Now it’s a passion.

“What I love about my hair texture and this kind of hair is you can do all sorts of interesting angular shapes with it,” Nyong’o says. “Braiding just tells a story. It’s just like sculpting the locks, really.”

“Your hair is your frame,” she adds. “It’s so important. You know, if you jack someone’s hair up, the world sees it.”
