VH1 has confirmed that Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew will not be on the schedule for 2012. While the reality show has not been officially canceled, there are no plans to film another season anytime soon. While the network claims that the decision was made in response to Dr. Drew's overly crowded schedule (he has a two other shows: his nightly Dr. Drew on HLN and his daytime talk show Lifechangers on the CW), fans still wonder if it has anything to do with the bad run of press Rehab has experienced last year. Two of its former cast members died (Mike Starr from an overdose and Jeff Conaway from complications due to his addiction). Additionally, nearly half of the footage from the fifth season of the show ended up on the cutting room floor, as it featured Michaele Salahi, who had bamboozled producers into believing that she had an addiction when in fact she did not. Meet O'Neal, a native New Yorker who describes himself as "the black Brad Pitt," but gets with chicks by speaking in a sexually suggestive way. He says he hasn't been on more than three actual dates because he generally sleeps with women without any dates, and cannot stop talking about his tattooed testicles and "prize in his drawers" at the dinner table. (Somehow, we can't imagine Brad Pitt's balls are tattooed — but they could smell like lavender?) It was up to Siggy Flicker (real name) of VH1's Why Am I Still Single? to break down his overly-obvious shortcomings and help O'Neal find a classy woman by taming his trash-mouth. Her method of choice? To sign O'Neal up for a knitting lesson with some older ladies and make him promise to have a "real conversation" with the women without being filthy. Spoiler alert: He failed. O'Neal found a way to drop a few f-bombs, use the term "cushion for the pushin'," and after barely threading his needle, proclaimed "I got it in the hole, everybody!" The appalled knitters shamed him the best that they could, but this dude should learn to respect wise older women and their knitting needles. More »

Last night Vh1 debuted its competitor to Bravo's Millionaire Matchmaker and if the rest of the episodes are anything like what we saw last night, Patti Stanger has nothing to worry about. While the premise — female matchmaker fixes flawed daters and helps them find love — may seem familiar, Why Am I Still Single has a few tricks up its sleeve to separate it from the rest. Take, for example, the beginning of each show, where host Siggy Flicker sets up her two new clients on a "test date" with each other just to watch it go down in flames. And it does. Katie, a 25-year-old virgin and Rich, who describes himself as "The George Clooney of Brooklyn," come across as awkward and/or terrible people — with Katie even offering to give away her viginity just because Rich said she was already in the "Friend Zone." Rough. But somehow Siggy sort of gets away with it by announcing that it was all just a part of her master plan: "so I can watch you at your very worst and then hopefully try to bring out your very best." The first episode of Single Ladies did not impress me. it seemed like all the characters did was drink champagne and change clothes. I watched the second episode not expecting things to get better. Then the third. Then the fourth. Then I suggested my mom watch, and then I realized: I was hooked. The show had grown on me... and gotten better. I regret reacting so soon... but in a lightning-fast 24 hour entertainment news cycle you forget that there is such a thing as development. Giving something a chance to breathe. Now that the season finale has aired, I feel confident in saying: Single Ladies is good. Not amazing, not perfect, but a fun, soapy summer romantic comedy series that deserves the second season renewal it recently picked up. Does it tread the same ground as Sex And The City? Yes. Of course. Because the quest for true love is eternal. But unlike SATC, Single Ladies depicts a non-segregated world, where white people and black people not only work and socialize side by side, but are friends. SATC's version of New York — my hometown — was sadly whitewashed. More »

Vh1's reality offering Famous Food made its debut last night, and with a cast consisting of Eliot Spitzer's ex-call girl, the more voluptuous half of Speidi, RHONJ's "prostitution whore," The Sopranos' "Big Pussy," a former Bachelor, and the Three 6 Mafia, it was clear even before the first frame that this show would hit some sort of reality television nadir. Even in this barren economy, Bravo is expanding its stable of luxury-oriented programming to include shows about polo players, wealthy Dubai denizens, and even more clothes-porn, and Bravo executive Lauren Zalaznick is no doubt the mastermind behind it all. 45-year-old Zalaznick is also the subject of a new NY Times Magazine feature, which chronicles her incredibly successful tenure at Bravo. In short, Zalaznick, a former independent film producer and VH1 exec, started at Bravo in 2004. Any member of Generation X is familiar with the no-nonsense Dr. Drew Pinsky, beloved host of "Loveline." Well, Dr. Drew has a new show, VH1's Celebrity Rehab on which he works with a bunch of D-list (and that's being generous) celebs to help them overcome their addictions. Though there's a uncomfortable, voyeuristic aspect seeing someone at their worst — going through withdrawal, emotionally fragile, desperate to be saved — based on the show's promos, Dr. Drew does seem to prove his psychiatric cred on the show. And though the television reviewers can't decide whether Celebrity Rehab, which premieres tonight, is a show to feel good or feel bad about, they're pretty sure we'll all be addicted once we start watching. A VH1 reality show debuting in November called "America's Most Smartest Model" will confirm everything you already knew about the younger generation being stupider than you thought possible. Says co-host and former Harper's Bazaar fashion editor Mary Alice Stephenson: "[When] we did the spelling bee, I have to say, I was not impressed with [the models'] knowledge of how to spell certain words like Balenciaga or Yves Saint Laurent. They could barely spell DKNY." And yeah: Cindy Crawford was valedictorian and Carmen Kass is president of the Estonian National Chess League, so there really hasn't always been a correlation between "pretty" and "brain dead." Bret Michaels is always reiterating his love for music and how important rock will be in whichever girl he eventually chooses to be his mate. ("Rock 'n' roll is an insatiable bitch goddess, but I love her. And I'm just looking for that one woman in my life to participate in that threesome.") This week on the show Bret had the contestants write songs for him and then perform them, which meant we got to witness the girls' creative 'processes' and their train wreck, karaoke-style performances. And the greatest thing is that most of the girls were so completely sincere in their efforts, particularly Brandi C. and Rodeo, which is why it was so tragic that we had to say goodbye to them later on in the show.
