Vanessa Hudgens Receives Unromantic Fine for Carving Heart Into Sedona Rock

Latest

When Vanessa Hudgens etched a heart into a wall of red rock in Sedona Arizona, she was enjoying a Valentine’s Day sojourn with boyfriend Austin Butler. But the United States Forest Service was unmoved by the romantic gesture and fined her $1,000.

As Vulture explains, “defacing U.S. Forest Service features is a violation of federal law,” so a small carving of a heart is no small matter.

However, Coconino National Forest Public Service Officer Brady Smith tells Us Weekly that Hudgens’s offense is a common one. “This incident is currently under investigation, so there is not much I can share specifically since I am not privy to the details of an investigation until it is complete,” he says. “However,” he continues, “I can say that the issue of people carving their names and other things in rocks in the Sedona and surrounding area is always a challenge we face, and try to inform people about its destructive nature. We have found that when one person carves something, it encourages others to carve.”

Okay pals, you heard it from Officer Smith. We love Vanessa Hudgens, but we gotta leave the rocks alone.
