Two Little Girls Claim They're The Tiny Dancer In That NBC Viral Video

Latest

Sorry to sound all fusty and Tom Wolfe-ish, but it’s nice to know that even in 2013, when teenage girls are getting pregnant in order to be on MTV and Princesses of Long Island is a show, and Kardashians happen, some people get famous because they’re just irrepressible stars. Bright, shining motherfuckin’ stars.

However, the identity of the little girl who delightfully photobombed an NBC anchor above and immediately went viral is up for discussion: Two Chicago families claim it was their daughter in the video. Janiyah Rush, 7 (below) and her mom insists it was her, before her hair was braided. (Says Janiyah’s mom: “Is she gonna be famous now?”)

But the family of another little girl, a 5-year-old named Akira Gordon, has the striped dress in the video to prove it. (Says Akira’s mom: “I wasn’t going to make a big deal out of it.”) Physically, I’d say it’s Akira, although Janiyah’s cute as hell too.

Can we maybe apply a reverse-Solomon’s Law to this? The person who cares least is the one who’s correct? But ultimately, there are two adorable, sassy little girls in Chicago, so we all win. Beyoncé has space for more than one backup dancer.
