We can always rely on The New York Times to keep us updated on minor changes to our late night (or rather early morning) TV schedule, and today they're reporting that NBC is now running repeats of the fourth hour of the Today show (better known as Kathie Lee and Hoda Woman's Boozy Fun Time). NBC pulled Poker After Dark because the feds accused the show's sponsor of defrauding customers (ask your insomniac uncle with a gambling problem to explain) and since the network's executives are officially out of new ideas, they just swapped in a morning show and hoped no one would notice. This morning on Today, Nene Leakes discussed her early departure from Celebrity Apprentice—having abruptly quit the show after developing a harsh rivalry with Star Jones—saying she actually left because of the philosophy behind a domestic abuse slogan for women: "If the situation isn't good, you get out." The charity for which NeNe had been playing was the Atlanta Mission in Support of My Sister's House, a shelter for women and children of domestic abuse. By the time she left, she was the only remaining contestant who had not won any money for her cause. The irony in NeNe's domestic abuse excuse is that she, in fact, was the aggressor in the situation with Star Jones (as well as in a previous confrontation with La Toya Jackson). More »

Elizabeth Berkley—best known for her roles in Saved by the Bell and, of course, Showgirls—has written a book called Ask Elizabeth based on her website, which was apparently created out of some kind of demand of teen girls seeking advice from the actress. This morning, she discussed her book on Today, and while she mentioned that the biggest problem that she notices with teen girls is body image issues, she didn't say whether brown rice and vegetables was a suitable solution. Additionally, it remains to be seen if the book addresses what to do when you become so excited, so excited, so…scared. Same goes for what age, exactly, is too old for that "whore-y look." More »

One month after being crowned Miss Colorado USA, Blair Griffith and her mother were evicted from their home and have been living with a family friend. The 23-year-old was on Today this morning to share her experience, and tell others that anyone is susceptible to falling into similar circumstances, as she's made homelessness awareness one of her causes. While her story of financial hardship is a sad one—beginning nine years ago with the death of her father, followed by her mother's heart attack, the family's eviction, and the news that Griffith will soon lose her job at a retail store that's closing—I can't help but think that this is more of a cautionary tale than a relateable one. Despite the fact that Griffith and her mother have been struggling financially for nearly a decade, they didn't stop pursuing that crown, an expensive endeavor. It reminded me a lot of some situations we see on Toddlers & Tiaras where parents go into debt in order to afford the costs of competing in glitz pageants instead of setting aside money for their daughters' education or a rainy day. Ultimately, Griffith thinks it's worth it, as being a contestant in the Miss USA pageant has been her dream for years. But I'm not buying the whole slant that her story is "inspirational." Immediately, KLG shot out a backhanded compliment about JWoww's outfit, thanking her for "dressing like a lady as opposed" to Snooki's recent appearance.
