Police in Hollywood are investigating whether the same thief or thieves could be responsible for a rash of celebrity home robberies, as a new Bling Ring of sorts.
Chris Brown, Kevin Hart, Scott Disick and Blac Chyna all had their homes burglarized in recent months, and it may be no coincidence that some of those celebs are closely linked. Cops have no suspected burglar, but they’re thinking it may be an inside job. TMZ, which has a stunning graphic of a man in a ski mask, reports:
Cops believe the burglars may know their targets, and cops are worried this is just the beginning. We’re told the L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept. that covers Calabasas and Hidden Hills has put the word out to LAPD’s Hollywood division to be on the lookout for the burglars, especially in the hills.
Hart was robbed last weekend of $500,000 worth of random belongings, including jeans and watches. “They took so much stupid stuff. The stupid stuff made me mad. They took a pair of my jeans,” he told Steve Harvey. “You took a pair of my jeans. Ain’t nobody going to fit these jeans. I’m on the streets looking, waiting for somebody to sell me these jeans.”
Cops suspect that the burglars got into Hart’s home (which has surveillance) through the back door while he was gone. Scott Disick also had expensive watches stolen from his home in May, in what’s suspected as the work of an insider. Likewise, Blac Chyna’s had $200,000 cash and jewelry taken after her safe was broken into during a home invasion. The Chris Brown robbery incident from last year may have been people he knows, according to him.
Two or more of the robberies could be the work of the same person or group of people, as was true of the original notorious Bling Ring, a crew of teens behind a string of home thefts that targeted celebs like Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton, and then became immortalized via Alexis Neiers, Pretty Wild, and the inevitable movie.
