The Godmother Of Bohemian Style Has Her Turn in the Spotlight

Latest

While the words “boho chic” might make you cringe due to the excessive usage of the term during Coachella season, the 70s-inspired, flowy pieces that make up the trend are popular for good reason. There aren’t many pieces of clothing that can make someone feel instantly chic than a floor-length caftan. Fashion designer Thea Porter helped bring the look to the mainstream back in the 1970s and celebrities of that era all flocked to it. Elizabeth Taylor, Lauren Bacall, Faye Dunaway and Bianca Jagger were some of the stars who wore her designs.

Recently, the designer is getting some long overdue attention. According to The Guardian, London’s Fashion and Textile Museum is running an exhibition in her honor until May, while a book titled Thea Porter: Bohemian Chic recently came out. Both are firsts for the designer responsible for this timeless look.

So please, don’t let Coachella ruin your love for the boho. Plus, summer is coming so we should all just pull a Christina Hendricks and start planning a caftan-and-casserole party.
