Something weird happened on the season finale of America's Next Top Model: All-Stars last night — and for once, we're not talking about something Tyra Banks, the always-smizing host of the show did or said. Instead, it was the random disqualification of Angelea Preston, the tall, somewhat-beloved underdog who scratched her way to the top. It was strange that she was suddenly suspended from the show's competition. Even stranger was the way the situation was addressed on the show: Barely at all. World renowned model Coco Rocha stopped by America's Next Top Model last night not only to judge, but to participate in a photo shoot with all of the contestants. Bless her heart. The theme of the day was a violent cat fight, and the challenge generally paired two girls who didn't like each other together to work with Coco. Surprisingly, the girls who didn't get along very well, like Bianca and Shannon, churned out a series great photos while others ...didn't do as well. There was Angelea, who walked off the set in tears after overhearing what the photographer and Jay Manuel were saying about her, and Bre, who decided it was a good idea to scream her lungs out during the whole shoot, which was not only bizarre, but frightened Coco enough that she "didn't even know how to pose anymore." The show that brought us the woman who actively hates Kim Kardashian's ass and made Snooki win over the entire extended family of a judgmental dude has been canceled. But why? It would seem like the possibilities are endless for a show whose premise is to unite celebrities and regular folk who have a passionate distaste for them. It could have been a lack of actual celebrities willing to participate on the show, considering how 25% of their celebrity guests so far were part of the Kardashian Klan. Or, as we saw with Scott Disick, the possibility that the famous person partaking in the show will come off looking much worse than when the episode started. More »

Yesterday, AdAge reported that after Elle participated in Project Runway, the mag saw newsstand sales and ad pages soar — going from number 6 to number 2 in its category, second only to Vogue. (Now Vogue has an online docu-series "Model.Live.") Elle has parted ways with Project Runway, but will launch Stylista on The CW in October. And Marie Claire will partner with the Style Network to produce Running In Heels, a weekly series about the lives of Marie Claire editors. When I heard that there was going to be a black kid on the new 90210, I celebrated for about three seconds. Then I read that he was adopted. What a fucking cop out. It's been 18 years since The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air, 24 years since The Cosby Show and 33 years since The Jeffersons. Why can't there be a black kid living in an affluent neighborhood who has his own money? Or has ONE rich black parent? A lawyer, doctor, politician, sports star, rapper, something? The latest Gossip Girl ads push the "OFMG" factor right in your face — and use a little creative Photoshopping to do it, points out blog Crime Scene Improvisation. Will digitally removing Blair's bathing suit result in more viewers? Dawn Ostroff, president of the CW, probably hopes so: The television network is not doing too well, reports Forbes. The number of viewers was down this past season — probably partly because of the writers' strike in Feb, partly because of its "fickle demographic" — 18-34 year olds. But just because a show has buzz doesn't mean people are watching. "Gossip Girl is one of the big mysteries of the television universe," Ms. Ostroff says. Gossip Girl only has 2.2 million viewers (by comparison, American Idol has 27,7 million). How is it that the show has "legions" of fans, loads of fan sites and a steady stream of "news" about its stars when the ratings are so low? "We have to figure out a way that all of those different viewing habits are getting counted," Ostroff adds. She'd also like to tweak the network's focus, and guess who she wants to concentrate on?
