Taye Diggs Is Broadway's Next Hedwig

Taye Diggs—prolific Twitter follower, giver of grooves, and the original Benny in Broadway’s Rent—is headed back to the Great White Way, this time starring as Hedwig in Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Looks like your dream of watching Diggs strut around in a blonde wig and full glitter makeup is finally coming true!

Diggs steps into Hedwig’s gold, high-heeled Bowie boots for a 12-week run beginning July 22. He is the first African American to star in the role on Broadway and is joined by Rebecca Naomi Jones, Broadway’s first black Yitzak.

Previous Hedwigs include John Cameron Mitchell (who wrote the play and originated the role), Neil Patrick Harris, Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall, and its current lead, Darren Criss.
