I would give my first born to hear Jake utter the line: "The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle, but the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true!"
@kookla: I wonder who would play the Bob Hope to Gyllenhaal's Kaye?
Also, isn't it weird that both Gyllenhaal and Kaye have/had all sorts of unfounded gay rumors about them? People can be so mean, who cares if they're gay? They're both great actors, that's all that should matter.
Many parts of me think I would enjoy being fucked by David (Boreanaz). Also; if somebody told me they would pay me "more than one but less than three million" then they better realize they are paying me $2,999,999.99
These details don't shock me as much as the climate we have created in this country where every celebrity cheater has to make a public apology to us all. Why? Tiger didn't do a damned thing to me, and I shouldn't have to see his supposedly penitent face on TV reminding me he's "only human" or whatever. The only person he owes his sorry "sorry" to is his wife, who, by the way, needs to get many STD tests and herself "lawyered up."
@Uju: The problem is, TIger's real career is being a spokesperson. And he would obviously like to continue to make billions of dollars off of that career. He doesn't need to apologize to us. But he needs to spin the situation in a way that allows him to still go out and put on a smiley beloved face and shill crap.
@MyNameIsChris: But even then, the spokesperson stuff--am I less likely to buy Gatorade and Buicks from a cheater? Fuck no. If so, I wouldn't be wearing my Hanes panties, just like Mike.
@dangerslut: It's just a sliding scale of power a spokesperson can have with the public and things can tarnish it. Your example of MJ is good, but even better is Kobe Bryant who absolutely killed his endorsement career and then miraculously recovered by handling the media well over the course of a couple years. Tiger has always been far more private and is obviously struggling with getting in front of the story and taking control of the shit storm. He's always almost had contempt for the media, even if they were just asking about his golf game. And everyday is a new flurry of cocktail waitresses.
Remember Tiger's most famous ad, where a string of cute kids all proclaim "I AM Tiger Woods" one after another into camera? Yeah... laughable now. And YOU might be willing to buy Tiger Woods endorsed products, but it doesn't mean 100% of the people out there are. It's just an extreme situation because the guy traded off such a clean image and is/was arguably the largest celebrity brand in the world. It will be interesting to see how it plays out...
@Uju: I agree completely. He is really apologizing to his employers. He should just come out and say, 'Please, multi billion companies who pay me more than I'm worth, don't stop! Please?' And, his family. All of this apologizing to the public, whom he owes nothing, baffles me.
@MyNameIsChris: But didn't Becks fuck, like, a million different women, too, while married to Victoria? I don't see him suffering for his indiscretions. He's in South Africa hugging babies.
No celebrity is held accountable for their actions. That's part of the reason why they go out and fuck 5,000 women while married.
@lonewolfer: lusty trollop: Allegedly, allegedly. I think that they actually sued one woman who said that. Like took her to court for libel. Not that it doesn't mean that she wasn't telling the truth, but still... it was a different sort of vibe from him.
@lonewolfer: lusty trollop: I dunno man... I'm American and Beckham didn't penetrate (heh heh) as much over here. I mean, he's tabloid fodder but endorsement wise he's certainly not comparable to Tiger in the states (though I understand at his height he was in the same general league worldwide) Basically I don't know.
All I know is that it's pretty fucking obvious that if you trade on your public image, you need to cultivate and maintain said image. I seem to think Beckham was more willing to play ball with the media. My only point here is that Tiger is doing his standard Tiger response of sweeping everything under the rug and choosing to just ignore it. More power to him. But I'm wondering how it will pan out now that he's (for the first time) dealing with negativity about his image.
Count the typos in the Daily Mail George Michael story. I know most proofreaders all over the world have been fired, but doesn't anyone use Word to check their stuff? (Sorry, I'm an English teacher.)
@SarahHeartburn: I am a pretty excellent speller and it irks me when people can't spell the simplest thing. I feel really bad getting annoyed, too, but I just can't help it. It seems so easy!
@cinematheques: Although I am a graduate student in English, my spelling sucks. I am mildly dyslexic, enough that I always failed spelling tests, but I managed to over come it for a while and get by as an average speller. But then I started grad school and started reading all these 16th and 17th century manuscripts in which spelling was not really considered something that existed. So not I add Es to the end of wordes for no reason and misspell "meat" as "meet" and such.
But at the same time, there are certain spelling ticks that drive my batty. My asshole BFF/boyfriend from high school used to use "seperate" instead of "separate," and now whenever I see it my eyeballs twitch. And of course I consider they're/their/there not a spelling problem but a grammar problem.
@SarahHeartburn: Canada and England spell some words differently. Every single word you consider misspelled in that article is completely correct. It's the English version of the word. Ex: English - licence, realise, recognise, etc.
Then, there are words in the article like "smoocheramas" and "spliffs" - they are spelled incorrectly, considering they are not a real words. :D
@ILiketheWord'Pugilist': I live in Europe and I know the difference between British and American English (my ancestors were Irish BTW). I'm talking about sloppy, un-proofread copy.
Zach Galifinakis is the kind of guy you could eat cereal and play scrabble with and have the best day. In fact, that's how I'd like to spend my Saturday.

I have never understood the public's fascination with outing famous people. As Danny Kaye would say, "Who gives a flying fig?"
