That review is the funniest thing I have ever read in the Wall Street Journal!

Personally, I had not even heard of this series until recently and I maintain that, in this case, ignorance is bliss.

I haven't seen the movie yet but there is a scene that is actually scary or at least creepy? Even The Count from Sesame Street is a little sinister.

I don't care how big this movie gets, Robert Pattinson will only ever be Cedric Diggory to me.

These kids should be forced to go rent The Lost Boys, Interview with a Vampire, and the Kristy Swanson/Luke Perry film version of Buffy..

I want to see the movie but only to see if Stewart's hate for her costar is seen on screen. Read the interviews with her. She hates the character, thinks the novels are pedantic and thinks her costar is a flipping loon. It is AWESOME.

Don't read his interview. It's better to think of him as Phoenix light then to realize he's actually just an idiot with a huge ego.

@Vivien Smith-Smythe-Smith: Well, in the Buffyverse at least, sex was equated with bloodlust - so I assume that if Edward/Bella get it on, he will want to suck her blood, too. Anyone more familiar with the books and/or movie, feel free to correct me.

But I have to ask a question that always bugged me on Buffy... just how *does* one have sex with a male vampire? I mean, no beating heart, no pumping blood, no erection... just sayin'?

Also, since I want to teach middle school I think it may be a professional requirement that I become acquainted with those books.

Also, my YA romance of choice throughout high school was Ron and Hermione, who were wizards and still more realistic than this. I could give a shit about two whiny emo dying-for-each-other Ashlee-and-Pete-Mowgli-Simpson-Wentz morons.

This sort of thing really annoyed me when I was a teenager. I stopped liking such things with kids incorporated. My friend pam, who is 32, is stoked about seeing this shitfest, having read all the books. God, I wish I was genius enough to come up with some crap like this and make millions.

I haven't read these books, but might see the movie because I feel that it would bring back memories of the good part of being a 12 year old girl (yes, there are good parts).

Haters can hate, but that burning, yearning desire for forbidden romance is so bittersweet and it's fun to indulge sometimes. I mean, my obsession in middle school was Rogue and Gambit from the X-Men (they couldn't touch! But they wanted each other! It's epic romantic!)

@exelizabeth: Wait, so what I'm gathering from this review and your comment is that Bella and Edward DON'T have sex. Seriously, if there's not hot quasi-vampire sexin', I have no reason to see this.

I am just thankful that when I was in high school, and went through my vampire book/movie craze it was with Interview With a Vampire, which where both really good, instead of this crap. Lestat & Louis FTW!

@NowhereGirl: it's funny as a 14/15 year old, which was when I had my vamp stage, I wasn't a massive Anne Rice fan but I worshipped Poppy Z Brite, she was my goth horror gay novel queen.

@NowhereGirl: Looking back, I don't think Interview and the series were that great of books, but they were certainly entertaining and worthy of the vamp genre. Twilight, with sparkle vampires who don't drink people blood and hang out in foggy high schools are a poor substitute for the real thing. It's like off-brand maxi pads.

I've actually been fairly into vamp stuff lately though - I'm enjoying True Blood, and after a friend had begged me for years to watch Buffy, I've gone through seasons 1-4 and season 1 of Angel. True Blood is violent and sex-filled, while Buffy/Angel are smart and sophisticated. I don't see much of either in Twilight.
