    My nieces and nephews attend Japanese weekend school. Matsui came to visit one weekend and took pictures with all the kids. He looked like Gulliver surrounded by Liliputians. #yankeesparade

    @futuremouse: At least your commute is being screwed up by a parade. In Philadelphia right now, our commutes are being screwed up by a transit (SEPTA) strike. Count your blessings/whatever. Looks like I just cannot catch a break. #yankeesparade

I walked past some picketers yesterday and just kind of suppressed a chuckle because literally no one felt any sympathy for them.     As a Yankee fan, I am incredibly jazzed over the win. As a fan of prosperity and freedom, I am ecstatic. The last Yankee dynasty coincided with a period of relative international stability and tremendous economic growth. I don't think that they are unrelated. So if you root against the Yankees you obviously hate freedom and would have no problem getting to third base with Kim Jong Il whilst playing 7 minutes in heaven at a sleepover part at Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's house. #yankeesworldseries

    I grew up in Yankee country during that spate of World Series victories where they were just unstoppable...and I couldn't stand watching them play. I'm sorry but I still feel like the Yankees play a damned boring game of baseball. Now that I've moved south to Philly, I can watch baseball again. I like never knowing if Brad Lidge is going to give the game away at the last second. I like the fact that Jimmy Rollins will swing at a kickball toss if you paint the ball white with some red lines on it. I think it's hilarious that Utley's "special ability" is getting nailed with the ball and walking on to base,

    Win or lose, I'll watch a Phillies game any day over the Yanks any day. Grats and all, but a sure thing just isn't as impressive. #yankeesworldseries

    @CynicalPink: I feel that way when it comes to most AL teams. I just find AL play gives me a wicked case of the sleepies (which is part of the reason I don't follow my native Rangers anymore and picked up the Cubs). #yankeesworldseries

    @bluetrain84: this. not to be stereotypical but this is why i like female sportsfans more than guys. my bf's life was legit ruined in 04 when boston won. all i could think of was all those "just once before i die" signs in the stadium and said good for them. i love the yankees, i love when the do well, but if they do poorly its not the end of the world and if someone else does well, good for them. #yankeesworldseries

    @BuffyBot: My bf is a Yankees fan and he is the nicest male Yankee fan I have ever met. He actually roots for the BoSox with me (except when we are playing Noo Yawk, of course) and never starts in with obnoxious comments. In return, I am polite while watching Yankees games and congratulated him for your guys' win. My ideal situation for Wednesday's game was for Pedro to pitch 7 scoreless innings (to relive the glory days when his ERA was below 1.0!) and then for you guys to end up winning because I knew it would mean a lot to the bf. BoSox can't take it every year! #yankeesworldseries

He’s consistently awesome, at bat and in the field." "Do you wanna check out his stats on my phone?" "Why did you waste time asking me when you could just bring it up right now?" By the end of the game, I had memorized the line-up so I always knew not to leave my seat when I knew Matsui was coming up.

    My boss’ husband’s friend is his translator and confirms my suspicions that he is a truly nice guy… the same cannot be said for the rest of the team, unfortunately. (Jeter, I’m also told, is great, and he’s my second fav.) #yankeesworldseries

    @rowingrowingrowing: He really is. While A-Rod and Jeter deliver powerful hits, they do so sporadically, lacking Matsui's consistency. He's just not a showy player, but he absolutely could be and back it up with aplomb. #yankeesworldseries

    @LaComtesse: Exactly! He is such a methodical, thoughtful hitter, with what looks to be just an exceptional work ethic (we love watching him square up at the plate). We were heartbroken for him when he broke his wrist in 2006. Please, Yankees, do not let him go next year! #yankeesworldseries

    Has it always been widely known that Andy Pettite sounds like Kenneth the Page? I am a longtime baseball fan, the Yankees have beaten my team in the World Series, I've covered baseball for newspapers, and yet, hearing his soundbyte this morning was incredibly jarring.

    I also like that Yankees' coaches, managers and players are tripping over themselves to insist that it's not easy to win a championship (with the highest team salary and the best shot at the best free agents, every single year). Y'all are protesting too much. #yankeesworldseries

    @stacyinbean: As someone who grew up in the town adjacent to Stone Mountain, I can verify that Kenneth's southern roots are real. Much of my family sounds like Kenneth, and I'm fairly certain they're from sexcriminalboat.

    And as far as Pettite's accent and Yankees' spending, I only jest because I hurt. I'm a die-hard Braves fan, and the 90s were both wonderful and terrible. #yankeesworldseries
