When I saw the title I thought "they BETTER include Spuds!"
I mean, I am biased I have a bull terrier. I've never seen that one, I laughed so hard it brought tears to my eyes.
I would love to find out who came up with the Spuds concept because despite being over 20 years old people STILL remember it. I hear "Spuds!" at least once a day when I walk my dog.

Why is that man telling me to go to my Studebaker dealership tomorrow?? Mr. Ed obviously is so pumped for that power steering he should be telling me to run over there today.
If only you had done this 6 months ago. When I went to new employee orientation, the AFLAC guy's question was the about the first duck commercial. I could have won an AFLAC duck (stuffed, of course)
I suppose the end of the story is that my boss did end up getting one, which we threw away because it kept making us sneeze. And it, you know, was very obnoxious
@eadubbs: for some reason, Aflack came to my highschool years ago (I still have no idea why). They had a giant Aflack duck I wanted to steal, but I was only able to get a little one that said "Aflack. Aflack. AFLAAAAACKKKKK" (aha I guess they haven't changed it, hfree) when you squeezed it. I would leave it in people's lockers.
I had a few of the Gidget stuffed toys from Taco Bell that talked-- my dog LOVED them, so all you'd hear in our house was growling and then "Viva Gorditas" in this weird echoey voice. Ah, the memories.
@hatepaperdoll: I couldn't find the one that goes, "I want chicken, I want liver, Meow Mix Meow Mix please deliver." I think I heard it on the Simpsons or something and I've always considered it the definitive version.
@Margaret: I remember that too. According to Wikipedia it's from "Austin Powers".
The Simpson's quote is Homer's inner thoughts (I know you can read MY mind too, boy: Meow, meow, meow, meow).
Also, you can buy a clock that plays the jingle every hour. God bless us, everyone.
Wow, the Viva Gordita ad is really problematic. I'm sure I didn't notice as a kid, when it came out, but now I can't not analyze the things about it that piss me off.
Most of this ad is simply references to Cuba and Argentina (draping red over everything = communisim, extreme veneration of a leader speaking from a window = Eva PerĂłn reference). Both of those are issues because 1) they are a caricature of complicated history that most people in the US don't understand and 2) they are lumping together very different parts of Latin America under the umbrella of pseudo-Mexican food. Mexico has never had a communist leader, and while some people argue that the 70-year reign of the PRI represents a dictatorship, it was certainly nothing akin to the charismatic populist leadership of Castro or PerĂłn (or today, Chavez) that is imitated in the commercial.
I'm not expecting a commercial about cheap fast food to educate the United States about the rest of the world, but that commercial is more than bordering on racism. When things like that are acceptable, are considered funny, is there any wonder that there's so much ignorance and so many stereotypes about Latin Americans abounding in the United States?
@rednrowdy: I had assumed that the dog was scooting on the carpet because of impacted anal glands, which, you know, if I had to choose between carpeting smeared with bloody hand juice and the ooze from impacted anal glands...bring on the bloody hand. I'm just sayin'.
