    I have a friend who constantly texts when she's with me or other people, and even has a facebook status update alert ringer and checks that. I think it's really rude and annoying but the few times I've hinted to her about it, she's astonished I think it's anything but normal. She's not young, either, she's in her mid-30s. I dunno if I should make more of an issue of it.

    I am seriously old fashioned about this - my cell is for work and emergencies ONLY. Pre-paid, cheap and a tax deduction.

    I just broke up with a friend who insisted I carry it at all times for HER convenience! And I quote, "Don't argue with me! I don't want excuses! Carry the damn thing with you all the time and answer it!"

    Needless to say this was the final straw in a huge bale of controlling bossy behavior.

    @CurtCole: Yeah, I have a friend who does it too. It's hard, because none of us is without fault. I mean, I could say - 'Hey, when we're at a concert together and you start texting, it makes me feel like you don't want to be here with me'; but she could very well reply 'Hey, when you are always 10 minutes late it makes me feel the same way'. So. . .
