One trend I would like to see over in the UK is a British woman of Barbara Walter's vintage with such a high profile role on UK t.v. Instead, women are sidelined once they hit their 40s and replaced with much younger less experienced women. The men by contrast can have a face best suited to radio and it does not matter HOW many birthdays they have celebrated.
This is not what I want in a comic book. I'm all for telling these women's inspirational (for the most part... I'm lookin' at you, Palin) stories, but not in a comic book.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with comic book superheroines. Big Barda. Storm. Rogue. Wonder Woman. The Black Widow. Jean Gray. Phoenix. Hell, even the Silk Spectre II is pretty badass. I want more of those.
Real life female rolemodels are important, but is it too much to ask for some badass fantasy?
really? just because you disagree with her politics does not mean that what she did (ie her rise to the bid for vice presidency) was not impressive. do not discount all the bullshit the media has fed you. you may not agreee with sarah palin and in fact you might hate her and her politics but don't let that petty shit allow you to disrespect her. that is just plain childish.
i think this is great. giving the story of how these women got to where they are is a great thing to show our children.
@notoriginal1234: Personally, I don't believe being chosen for her gender, youth and folksy-friendly persona to "enliven" the Republican party is all that impressive. I would also not like to see comic books featuring other people whose politics I hate, like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Dick Cheney or Karl Rove. If I hated on her boots, that might be petty or disrespectful. Hating on her because I find nearly every single opinion she has offensive and misguided isn't some lie I was fed by the media (like the moon landing!). It's a natural response.
@notoriginal1234: A culture of self-congratulatory tokenism always makes these things less impressive.
And since when is disagreeing with someone's politics petty? Those women and their petty concerns about: abortion rights, equality, the constitution... Geez, when will they grow up?
@kelsium: Ha! Ditto. The great minds...they think at the same time...
@That-Dude: Didn't he stop funding international groups that promote sex education and contraception abroad? Maybe you can find a poll that gives him 99% approval...but lots of Alaskans are crazygonuts for Sarah Palin. That doesn't mean I like her, should have to like her, or in anyway /do/ like her.
Obviously Palin's incongrous dress means she will turn EVIL and go renegade. This will force Hillary and Michelle to join forces to unleash the superpowerful DUAL BISHPLZ ray, and then drop her back in the Alaskan tundra where the wolves Palin has hunted lie in wait for their revenge...
When the world dares to question these Superheros' acts, Caroline can roll her eyes and say 'what are you, some kind of women's magazine?'
Actually, I think this is awesome! Real superheroes (and a villain, ahem)! If I had any children in my life I would definitely check out the Clinton and Obama ones.
Hopefully this wouldn't make me Lame Auntie Tailfeather.
@viklane: Given that Clinton and Palin have political careers and Kennedy was considered for one, wouldn't it be more weird that the President's wife is included?

I can do this all day.
Did you want to get into high fantasy? Because there some pretty potent females in RPGs...
