    I agree about men trying to impress women and in my own experience it is not limited to heterosexual men. I will always remember a gay American art dealer unexpectedly showing me an authentic Holbein etching. I had not known at that point that he had one and he was taking a risk to let me (a complete stranger) know of its existence. It was obvious too that I would never be in a position to ever buy something so astronomically expensive even though Holbein is one of my favourite artists so it was simply done to impress me (and perhaps because he had an inkling I would genuinely be appreciative).

    @frankie22: It would probably take awhile to get the scientists that haven't done anything remotely similar to that research in years to get up to speed. People have their own specialties and own areas of research.

    @frankie22: A lot of these studies are done by research students, too, or at least as a vehicle for their learning. Worry not, there are scientists at the top of their game working every day to cure cancer, AIDS and myriad other diseases.

    @frankie22: 1) They are social scientists and would need the knowledge and the rigorous scientific training to conduct such research and 2) It's no one's place to say what the 'one thing' would be in such a situation anyway. Scientists pursue what they love that just happens to also serve the greater community. They're not obligated to work on a cure for whatever the hot disease of the moment is, they do what they do because they want to.

    Of course, women are the cause of men's stupidity! Just like how women are the cause of global warming because of our hot flashes and how women destroyed the financial system because of our severe credit card debt from shopping too much!


    Here's a suggestion to the men: Be yourselves and don't take on a different persona when around a creature with a vagina. It will save you the embarrassment and your fragile little egos. Either that or grow some balls.
