And we also talked about how the Bible was actually written down by people. Therefore, if the people who wrote the Bible felt inclined to include this passage, then Bible-writers think female orgasm=good.

@ceejeemcbeegee:
@TealCuttlefish:
St. Augie was the genius who decided that original sin is passed through the flesh via sex.
This idea opposes other ancient cultures that felt that sin consisted of mistakes that a person could recover from, and is not a fundamental condition of being human.
Augie had the clout as a theologian to make it stick.
And St. Paul, he doesn't get off the hook either, as Teal says, since he was convinced that being single and celibate is the best life.
I point this out because the world does get its ideas from somewhere, and I think it's useful to look for those origins. It helps us to weigh the ideas.

2k years on we can see that he was wrong. Yet he is a "doctor" of the Church and a fundamental influence in our society. So we live with the consequences of his wrong ideas 2k years later, since of course he was divinely inspired.
Others today still make decisions assuming that "end times are coming". See for example certain US protestant groups and their attitudes towards Israel and Palestine.
Why are we making collective decisions based on this stuff!?! arrrrggggg!

So it's ok if you call it that? I'm speechless. These same folks think sex shops are filthy and sinful, but they can sell the same stuff if they call it "christian" and "marital aid?" Jesus Christ Almighty, this is a new level of hypocrisy. And there's no guarantee that only married couples are going to buy stuff from here. It's pretty graphic, so I could see any intimate couple buying stuff - married or not!
THe NPR story says they pray before putting products on their site and they don't sell things that they consider "unholy." Their site has plenty of "unholy" things for sale, lemme tell ya. Check it out. Rings, "head candy," creams, books about positions, everything you'd find in any other sex shop.

I haven't had the guts to ask any of my sisters there about this topic but I have noticed that the couples who attend, no matter what age they may be, seem to have very strong marriages and are openly affectionate (hand holding, hugs, etc) with each other at church. I suspect they have very, very happy sex.
Things seemed to get even happier when we changed the weekly Bible study a couple of years ago to a men-only group. A couple of families left in a huff over this. I was kind of perplexed but thought I'd see where it led. It has turned out to be a great thing - almost like a men's support group. Many of my friends have said they don't have to ask and ask and ask for stuff to get done around home anymore. The guys are stepping up and taking more responsibility. They're talking more. They're NOT ACTING LIKE SUPERIOR JERKS! They're getting more, well, sensitive. And they're happier.
What I thought was a typical, conservative Christian "boy's club" move turned out to be something completely different for them. It made me think. Women tend to turn to our sisters for help, advice, and a good shoulder to cry or bitch on. Men internalize. My brothers at church have a place to go where they can do what we've done for decades. They're just learning about it and THEY LIKE IT. They have their support group and they're better for it.
*sigh* If only Mr. G wasn't Jewish....

I didn't have a healthy view of sexuality, but I can only blame part of that on church. The rest was me being weird and who knows what else.
But my mom the Republican Baptist uses sex toys, bless her heart.

So many of my former friends (I saw two of them this week at a NY bash, these two who think it's a bad idea to kiss before you get married), so many of them seem to have such an awful idea of sex, a taboo, a dirtiness that I usually reserve for threesome fantasies about Gerard Butler having a firm hand and the boyfriend enjoying the show.
Anyway. If there are places and resources that can help couples mutually enjoy their sex lives, I say power to you, regardless of who you worship or what you think of the buttsex.

Also, it's kind of cool that they have a sex-toy shop. Though early2bed is good enough for this church-going gal.

Sample quote: "Before attempting fisting, a Christian husband and wife should pray together and ask for divine guidance."
Also: "However, because of the intense nature of the act of fisting and the degree of surrender and submission involved in being fisted, a couple should first look deeply into their own hearts and pray for guidance as to whether it is wise for the wife to fist the husband. They should undertake this only if their relationship is such that the husband can assume a submissive and passive role during a sexual act, while afterward still maintaining his role as the spiritual head of the household and leader in the marriage."

Also, how devout could she be if she was engaging in that ultimate sin of gay sex?
