    @The Queen of No: I used to have a giant poster of this on my wall and when I was 12, I thought this was how all boyfriends would be, how all relationships would look like.
    I think I went into mourning when they broke up and then I grew up and realized what a complete eejit I was.

    Winona Forever!

    It's refreshing to see someone with her level of fame (and in some respects notoriety) with such a level head. And good for her for not taking the bait on the Angelina questions. I hate how the media sometimes tries to pit two successful women against one another, as if it's impossible for them to be happy for one another. You either have to hate someone or be their bestest friend. That's seldom the reality in most working relationships. #winonaryderblackbookmagazine

    I've always thought it must be pretty psychologically difficult to become famous at a young age. I feel like most of us have the experience of learning about disappointment and having other people put boundaries in place before we've learned to set our own.

    But if you're someone like Winona Ryder or Britney Spears, or Lindsay Lohan, you're essentially surrounded by Yes Men at a time when you should be learning that you don't always get what you want.

    It's not surprising to me that that can create a sense of being disjointed from reality.

    @cinematheques: oh god, my friends and i can basically recite the entire movie line of line and i actually use some of the slang or expressions in my everday speak. "whats your damage?", "fuck me gently with a chainsaw", and "diet cokehead" get regular usage. so embarrassing/awesome. #winonaryderblackbookmagazine

    I am selfish, and I wish she would be more publicly available. She's the kind of person I would hope that I'd be if I were in her situation... just as fucked up as ever, but smart, self-respecting, talented, and reflective. She's a delicate person who I feel has never lost her fragility the way Angelina and even Johnny seemed to. It's what I like about her, and what I used to really like about them... I think that Angelina has lost it completely, and Johnny still has it, but you wouldn't know it from his roles or how he's perceived in the media. Winona never became an Actress. She was always just a human who acts.

    I like that she is so obviously flawed and afraid, makes mistakes, and questions herself. Of course I want her to be happy, but again, I'm selfish, and I don't like it when the artists I relate to become pure persona and get put on a pedestal.

    Her and Christina Ricci. Weird girls that I've admired my entire life, and still admire today. And they both starred in the film adaptation of books that meant the world to me at a certain time in my life. #winonaryderblackbookmagazine

    @prismatism: I think these are pretty insightful observations. I would just add that Johnny Depp has built a beautiful, rather reclusive life for himself with his family. In interviews he's just as mumbly and un-Hollywood-plastic as ever. I think his box office success is separate from his actual personality . . . at least I hope so. :) #winonaryderblackbookmagazine

    However misguided it may be to make a hero out of an actress, she was my hero for a great portion of my youth/adolescence. I will always like her because of what she meant to me, or how I perceived her at that time, which is somewhat unfair to her. Still, I will always root for her. #winonaryderblackbookmagazine

    @lilbobbytables: Same here, I feel like I grew up with her. I've pretty much stopped taking anything written about celebrities/artists seriously, and just try to enjoy their work. I chime in occasionally, making fun of reality stars, but as far as artists go, I judge them on their work and try to avoid reading about their personal lives. #winonaryderblackbookmagazine

She was such an articulate, well-read teenager, and a good example (despite the later gossip) to other teenage girls.     @Diziet_Sma: I think it's more about reinforcing the idea that between 26 and 36 most women suddenly look different or noticeably age, which I haven't found to be true at all.

    But the two things are related- saying that looking young is most desirable, then telling women that they look older based on their age, even when they really don't- well, it sells a heck of a lot of moisturizer. #winonaryderblackbookmagazine
