    I'm all for defining women outside the status quo, but whore is a pretty limited term. What about women who step outside the status quo without loads of sexual activity like nun activists or married (faithful) moms of four working to change children's health policy?

    Defining women by their vaginal traffic flow doesn't seem like a step forward. #whore

    Sex doesn't automatically equal empowerment. I'm kind of tired of women finding themselves to be subversive simply by the act of exposing their personal places. Not that you necessarily need to hide it, your burlesque dancing does not automatically make you more feminist than the clothed woman who fights the glass cieling at her coroporate job. #whore

    Maybe I'm too cynical, but I think the title is kind of a cop out. I'm all for taking back negative words, but in the realm of ladymags, the use of a word like this seems both played out and trying too hard. Also, I just really don't want to identify with that word or have it shouting out at me from my coffee table. Not that it's the same thing, but can you imagine African-americans getting jazzed about a magazine called "N****r!" Hey kids, it's hip to refer to yourself with an ugly, repressive name!

    "Historically, many women have earned the title of whore for daring to engage in such masculine pursuits as getting an education..." If this is the definition of whore they are fighting against, they why are the contents filled with articles about sex, sex toys, sexy clothes, sex videos...? Seems like what the magazine is really trying to say is that embracing your sexuality doesn't make you a literal whore. Which is good. But the fact that that's not in their statement leaves me with the feeling that they focus on sex because sex sells. And even for the hipster set there's a fine line between embracing your sexuality and submitting to a culture where a woman's value depends on her being sexually available. #whore

    This magazine kind of encapsulates everything that keeps me from embracing my own generation of feminists. I don't care if you like gay porn. I can't imagine what you have to say about it for 3000 words.

    And "hipster stripping," hell, I live too close to Williamsburg to enjoy that. #whore

    @ErinJane: That's okay, I have our big stupid lab trained to respond to "baby" and "puppy." It is hard to act like your dog is intimidating when you're walking him and suddenly see a pack of teenagers if he's wagging his tail to you cooing "baby!" at him. I had to upgrade him to "boy" when we're in public. #whore
